In celebration of the 100th Anniversary of the Chief Cornplanter Council in 2013, a call is being put out to buglers across the country. The council hopes to put together an ensemble of 100 buglers for their Scout Sunday service on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013 at St. Joseph's Church in Warren.
The 2 p.m. service is slated to begin with the playing of "church call" by the buglers who will be positioned around the outside of the pews. Scout Sunday church services are a long-standing tradition in Scouting.
Because the Chief Cornplanter Council needs to make sure they have 100 buglers, interested parties should contact the office in advance. Any bugler of any age from anywhere in the country is welcome to join in the celebration. All participants should be in a Scout uniform. There is no cost to attend and all are welcome to come witness the spectacle.
Those aware of an interested person may direct them to the council office to register by calling 814-723-6700 during normal business hours. This is a one-of-a-kind celebration of Scouting and the Chief Cornplanter Council welcomes all to participate.
