Joyce E. Barton, 87, formerly of Grand Valley & Tidioute, died Friday morning, November 23rd at the Rouse Warren County Home. She was born in Mayburg, Pa., March 4, 1925, a daughter of the late Forest Lee and Lela Campbell Dunkle. She was a graduate of Sheffield High School, class of 1943 and during WW II, worked in various defense plants as part of the "Rosy the Riviter Program". She was a member of the Allegheny Bible Church of Tidioute and had been an active member of the former New London Grange. She took great pleasure in, and was accomplished at Knitting, Sewing, Crocheting, Quilting and Canning. Family and friends cherish her loving memories and the gifts she created especially for them. She was also an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Ford Barton, December 6, 1994, a brother, Frank C. Dunkle, three sisters: Mrs. Gladys Howard, Miss Leah Dunkle and Betty Dunkle and a greatgranddaughter, Audree Brown.
She is survived by a son, Charles L. and his wife Rhonda Barton, Grand Valley, Pa., three daughters; Mrs. William (Susan) Brown, Grand Valley, Pa., Mrs. Donald (Leah) McGuire, Tidioute, and Mrs. Eugene (Melinda) Centauro, Acton, Mass. and a sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Jean) Johnston, Warsaw, Ind. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; Glenn A. Barton, Jacob C. Barton, Sara Barton Peterson, Nathan T. Brown, Ty W. Brown, Chase M. Brown, Emily McGuire Wilcox, Barton E. Centauro, Kyle S. Centauro, eighteen great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be recieved at the James M. Higgins Funeral Home, 3 Elm Street, Tidioute, Sunday, Nov. 25th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and are invited to attend a funeral service to be held in the Funeral Home, Monday morning at 11:00 O'clock with Rev. Dale Timco, Pastor of the Allegheny Bible Church, officiating.
Interment will follow in Swedish Union Cemetery, Triumph Twp. Tidioute, Pa.
