Recreation Tax

November 23, 2012
The Times Observer

I am writing in regards to Youngsville's proposal for a "recreation" tax.

WHAT? What recreation? The pool? Now how many seniors do you see ever diving off the high dive?

This tax, if inacted, will not only hurt senior citizens on a fixed incomes but those who are just trying to make ends meet. It wasn't that long ago when money was contributed for the pool by individuals and businesses; now they want a recreation tax of $75.

So what we will be doing as Youngsville residents is paying a tax for someone's kids from out of the area to swim in the pool. What would be the ideal situation is, instead of making residents pay a ridiculous $75 that don't even use the place is to tax those who purchase their "pool passes" as a tax to their pass and not tax those who don't use the pool. If you're not happy about the "recreation tax" I will see you at the borough building at 4 pm Dec. 10 for the council meeting.

Respectfully

Jerry Cataldo
