The year of 2012 proved to be another strong boys soccer season for Warren County.
The Warren Dragons rolled to a 14-5 record and captured another Region 4 championship while a young Eisenhower team impressed with a strong 9-6-1 mark.
On Wednesday, several players from each team were credited with region all-star status for their performances in 2012. The list included three first-team Region 3 all-stars for the Eisenhower Knights and two first-team Region 4 all-stars for the Dragons. Warren also was credited with three second-team Region 4 all-stars.

Though Eisenhower had a young team in 2012, the club was led by its senior leadership. All three all-star selections for the Knights were seniors, including Jake VanHouten, Andrew Decker and Ben Perkins.
The trio were the top three scorers for the blue and gold with VanHouten leading the way with 24 goals. Decker had his most successful offensive season to date with 14 goals and Perkins finished with eight. Perkins was a two-sport athlete in the fall, also contending as one of the top runners for the Ike cross country team.
Warren had another strong regular season in winning the Region 4 championship, the the Dragons suffered heartbreak in the postseason with an opening round exit. Still, the team boasted first-team all-stars in Matt Sandberg and Liam Boger and second-teamers in Hunter Mohney, Shane Burns and Phil Hachula.
Sandberg was a force for the Dragons' team, finishing with a county-best 30 goals. A senior, Sandberg finished his Warren career with an impressive 71 goals. His classmate Boger also had quite a career despite finishing with just eight goals in 2012. Boger tallied 52 goals, scoring in all four years of his career for the Dragons.
Mohney had a breakthrough year in his senior season with Warren. Entering 2012 with just six goals in his career, Mohney was second on the club with 16 goals this season. Burns wasn't a big scorer, but that isn't his game. The senior helped anchor one of the strongest defenses in District 10 for each of his four seasons. Hachula - a foreign exchange student - was a pleasant surprise for the Dragons, finishing with five goals and adding several important assists in tight games.
