Warren City firefighters responded to a reported house fire at 200 Walnut St. at 8:29 p.m. Tuesday.
Firefighters said when they arrived on scene flames were coming from the kitchen window.
Fire Chief Sam Pascuzzi said the owner, Marilyn Cole, and her son were eating dinner in the dining room when they noticed flames coming from the kitchen. Pascuzzi said they immediately left the house and called 911.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the kitchen with the exception of some minor damage to the dining room. Utilities were also shut off as a precaution.
Red Cross personnel also responded, as did EmergyCare.
Pascuzzi said firefighters remained on the scene until 11:30 p.m.
North Warren volunteer firefighters and an ambulance from Pleasant VFD were on stand-by at the Warren Fire Department.
