Lights going up
On Sunday, Tidioute fire department members hung the strands of lights across Main and Buckingham Streets. Pictured are Chief Mark Veasey, left, and Corey Nicholson. This is a yearly event and joint venture between the fire department and the Holiday Lighting Committee.
Garbage Pick Up
This week the garbage pick up will on Friday, Nov. 23, due to Thanksgiving Day on Thursday.
Have your garbage at the curb by 6 a.m. Friday.
Also, the garbage company does not take televisions or computer monitors.
Fall Gun Raffle
Tidioute Area Volunteer Fire Department will be holding its annual Fall Gun Raffle on Saturday, Nov. 24.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. and the games will begin at 7 p.m.
There will be one gun drawn for every 65 tickets that are sold. Gun tickets are on sale for $10 each.
Winner need not be present to win, however, you will need your ticket stub to claim any guns that you win.
In addition to the gun raffle there will be a drawing for a Keg-O-Rator and an Xbox. Tickets for these two drawings are $2 each or 3 for $5.
Tickets are on sale at Tidioute Trading Post, Buccardo's Restaurant and from the firefighters and auxiliary members.
Harvest Dinner
Watson Grange members having a Harvest Dinner on Saturday, Nov. 24 at the Grange Hall located on Route 337 at 5 p.m.
Those attending are being ask to being a tureen to pass.
Police Car Bids
Tidioute borough is now accepting bids on the old police car.

Deerfield Township
The Deerfield Township Supervisors' monthly meeting was held on Monday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m.
During the month of October the boom mower was used to remove brush on Kushner Road, McCauley Hill Road, and McGee Run Project.
Ditches were cleaned on Youngsville and McCauley Hill roads and McCauley Hill was graded.
All roads were checked for downed trees and damage after the storm with repairs done where needed.
The backhoe, the boom mower and the TK 8000 received regular maintenance while winter maintenance and plow preparation began.
The preliminary 2013 budget was reviewed and will be advertised.
The Thompson Run and McGee Run projects are now complete and the final paperwork will be submitted to the Conservation District.
Flu Shot Clinic
Tidioute Area Health Center is offering flu shots during regular business hours: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Wednesdays from 1 to 7 p.m.

Blood Drive
Tidioute Community Charter School will host a blood drive on Monday, Dec. 3 from 12:30 to 6 p.m.
Anyone age 17 and older who is in good health and weighs at least 110 pounds can donate.
Bring your donor card or valid ID with you when you come to donate.
Donors can generally donate every 56 days after a whole blood donation or 112 days after a double red cell donation.
Take the opportunity to save another person's life by donating blood.

Guild Christmas Dinner
St. John' Ladies Guild and St. Anthony's Ladies Guild members are invited to the St. John's Guild Christmas Dinner on Wednesday, Dec. 5.
The dinner will be held at The Hummingbird Cafe in Tidioute at 6 p.m.
Cost is $13.50 per person and includes dinner, dessert, tax and tip.
Choice of entree is baked chicken or baked ham.
If you would like to join in on the gift exchange, bring a $10 gift.
There are sign-up sheets in both St. Anthony's and St. John churches or you can call Judy Sabella at 484-3085. You need to sign up by Nov. 27.
Methodist Youth Group
Tidioute First United Methodist Church is forming a Youth Group.
Its first project is going to be having Christmas cards signed and mailing them to our service personnel.
Anyone with addresses to share, contact the church at 484-7721 and leave a message.
Also, if anyone has any leftover Christmas cards they would like to donate, you can either leave them at the church or call and leave a message and a member will pick them up.
Christmas Auction
There will be a Christmas Auction at the Tidioute Firehall on Sunday, Dec. 9.
Doors will open at 2 p.m. and the auction will start at 3 p.m.
There will be new items such as Christmas items, knick knacks, knives, produce, cheeses and many more items.
This is being sponsored by the Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament.
Kitchen will be open.
American Legion
Meeting
There will be meeting of the Elzie E. Lynch American Legion Post 334 on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m. at St. John Center.

Bear Check
Pennsylvania Game Commission check in 102 black bear as of 6:30 p.m. Monday.
The largest one at that time was 412 pounds dressed, with live weight at approximately 450 plus pounds and was taken in Deerfield Township.
The bear check station is being held at the Tidioute firehall and will be open on Wednesday from 10 a.m. till 6 p.m.
