November 19, 2012
The Times Observer

Joseph L. Siliano, 81, of Warren, Pa., passed away on Friday evening, November 16, 2012. He was born on November 4, 1931 in Warren, Pa. to the late Frank L. and Theresa Scarpelli Siliano.

He was a lifelong resident of the Warren and Sheffield area. Joe began at a very young age helping with his father's business, learning the trade and art of plastering. In 1951 to 1954, he left Warren to join the U.S. Navy and serve his country. Upon his return to Warren, he continued to work in the family business until his father's passing. Joe's brother Jim helped carry on the tradition and they formed Siliano Bro's Plastering. Joe was a motorcycle enthusiast. He loved riding, raced for many years and even owned a couple of cycle shops. He was also a member of the Vikings Motorcycle Club. In the 70's, Joe owned and operated the Sheffield Tavern. He often reminisced about all the many friends he made and the great times they shared at "The Tavern."

He briefly managed the former Allegheny Hotel until Siliano and Son Plastering and Concrete was formed, with his son Steven. Joe was always recognized for being a hard worker. His work ethics carried him on until he retired at the age of 80. He always took pride in his craftsmanship, which brought his expertise into many homes and businesses throughout Warren and the surrounding areas. He was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church, Warren Knights of Columbus #964, their bowling league, Warren Moose Lodge 109, American Legion Post 135, and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 313. Joe could be found every Friday night with his friends at the local auction in Lander. He loved animals, especially his dog and horse.
