A big thank you to all who donated, volunteered and supported us during the craft and bake sale also at the senior expo for buying basket raffle tickets to support the center. Drawing for the basket will be Nov. 19.

Mystery lunches are on hold for the winter season and will be replaced by ramp bowling. Tuesday, Nov. 27 will start our bowling season at Bowlaway lanes with lunch and a fun afternoon. The bus will pick you up at your door so call for reservations.

If you are a veteran, spouse or child of a vet you can save on your car insurance by taking the AARP drivers safety course right here at the center. The classes are Nov. 14&15 from 5:30-9:30 are free for vets. The charge for a non veteran is $14 for both classes. Call 968-5667 to sign up.

Christmas is right around the corner so start preparing by purchasing a Bon Ton community day coupon book and support our center. You will receive more than $400 in coupon savings for only $5 to support your center.

Basket raffle tickets are 3 for $1, and what a deal it is with more than $255 worth of donated items including gift certificates worth $75 and a $50 dollar bill.

October has flown by and now we are ready for Christmas with many new decorations thanks to the homemakers group let the decorating begin!

The Allegheny Community Center Annual Christmas Bazaar is on Friday, November 30 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will be lots of vendor tables plus tables filled with handmade items of all kinds for your shopping convenience. It's open to the public, so please reserve this date. You won't want to miss it!

Great overnight and extended trips: American Quilters Society Quilt show, Mar. 13-15, 2013; Wildwood, NJ, May 13-17, 2013; Baltic heritage trip, Aug. 17-Sept. 2, 2013; Western National Park trip, late May into June, 2013; New York City at Christmas, 2013. Questions about these trips should be made to Margaret Sleeman, trip coordinator, at 723-7143 or 730-9364. For costs and sign-up, please call 723-3237. ACC membership is required for these trips. This is a special reminder to all trippers that the ACC Trip Policy is available at the Center.

All non-casino trips leave from the CRI parking lot located on Pennsylvania Avenue West, just over the railroad tracks on the left (along the river), unless otherwise instructed to park elsewhere. Salamanca Casino trips depart from the Big Lots parking lot at the Warren Mall, as always. Not sure, just call 723-3237!

ACC is open from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. M-F with extended hours until 7 p.m. on Mon. & Wed. ACC is closed for all activities and meals on legal holidays. Hot lunches are available Mondays-Fridays at noon. You can call your reservation to 723-3237. Bistro lunch is available on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with no reservation required. Take-outs available.

Lunches

The Warren-Forest Area Agency on Aging will serve the following menu at Allegheny Community Center and other Warren-Forest centers Nov. 19-23: meat and cheese sub Monday, parmesan chicken Tuesday, barbecued ham sandwich Wednesday, closed Thursday and Friday. Locations at Marienville, Sheffield, Tidioute and Endeavor will serve menus from Monday, Tuesday and Friday for the three-day sites. Eligible participation is 60 years and older with a suggested donation of $3. Call 723-3763 for information regarding congregate meal sites or center locations. Menu is subject to change based on availability.
