Operation Christmas Child
Thank you to all those in the community who donated Operation Christmas Child boxes through the Free Methodist and Presbyterian Churches. We had a record setting total of 147 boxes donated this year and packed several vehicles full to transport them to the drop off point.

Thanksgiving

Day Dinner

The Hessel Valley Lutheran Church in Chandlers Valley will have its annual Thanksgiving Day Community Dinner again this year. All are welcome to come our for a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings. It will be served family style with one dinner seating at 1 p.m. Come on out, gather with others, and enjoy a homemade feast with us on Thanksgiving Day. This dinner is a gift to the community and no donations are expected. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

lunch schedule

The Community Lunches in the area continue to be well attended. All lunches begin at 11:30 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend one of the area Community lunches. Each month lunch is held on the 1st Friday at the Mission Covenant Church at the corner of Matthews Run and Jackson Run Road. On the 2nd Thursday of each month at the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church located at the corner of Race street and Jamestown Street in the center of town . On the 3rd Wednesday of each month the Hessel Valley Lutheran Church usually holds their luncheon. This month they will be busily preparing for their Thanksgiving Day Community Dinner to be held the following day. The Hessel Valley usual community Lunch schedule will resume in December.

Holiday Treasure Sale

The Sugar Grove United Methodist Church will hold it's Annual Holiday Treasure Sale on Saturday, Nov. 17, from 10 a.m. 2 p.m. in the Educational Building. There will be toys, decorations, food and gift items, crafts, baked goods and much more. There will be a variety of homemade cookies and candies also for sale. Back again this year is the Kids Korner . Nothing will be sold over $1. Shopping in the Kids Korner is limited to children who would like to complete their Christmas Shopping. Santa will be on hand to visit with all the community.

Craft Show

The Sugar Grove Fire Department will hold their Annual Christmas Craft Show on Saturday from 10 a.m. 3 p.m. Admission is free and the kitchen will also be open. For details, or if you would still like to make a reservation to be a vendor, you can call Linda York at 489-7750

The Annual County Creations at Chris Ann's will be happening at the Welk's home on Big Tree Road on Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. 9 p.m.

Christmas Walk

The Annual Sugar Grove Christmas Walk is happening on Friday night, Dec. 14, from 5 p.m. 7 p.m. More details will be published as the event draws closer. Mark your calendars for this fun night of Christmas activities throughout the borough.

Miracle on 34th Street

The Knight Time Drama Players will present "Miracle on 34th Street" tonight and tomorrow night at the Eisenhower High School. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for students.

SGES cookbooks

The SGES parent organization is beginning work on its Sugar Grove Elementary Cookbook to be printed in the spring. At this time, all parents are reminded to not wait and get your recipes in. They should be submitted by Thanksgiving break on Tuesday, Nov. 20. Remember to include your child's name and grade with your recipe entries. You can also email recipes in to the cookbook committee by sending them to chefrita2010@gmail.com. Reminder, the kindergarten class is sending in recipes for desserts, cookies, and candies. The first grade students are sending in breads and roll recipes. The second grade is sending in main dish recipes. The third grade students are sending in appetizers and beverages. The fourth grade students are sending in soups, stews, chili and salads. The fifth grade students are sending in vegetable and side dish recipes. If you would like to submit recipes that are not in your child's grade that would be great also. The more the merrier.

WCSD Schedule

Their will be no school on Wednesday, Nov. 21, through Monday, Nov. 26, in observance of Thanksgiving holiday. School will resume on Tuesday, Nov. 27.
