Margaret H. Carter, 92, of Marienville, died at her home Tuesday, November 13, 2012. Born May 20, 1920, in Marienville, Pa., she was the daughter of L. Wayne and Clara Walker Hilyer. She was the oldest of 11 children. On November 22, 1946 she married Paul V. Carter, who preceded her in death in 2007.
Margaret retired from what is now Northwest Bank in Marienville. When she began her 42 year career there as head teller, it was Gold Standard Bank. She retired as administrative assistant.
Margaret's deep rooted faith and values made her church an important part of her life. She was a member of the Marienville United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school for 40 years.

She is survived by two sons, Brent Carter of Citra, Florida and Kevin Carter and his wife, Deb, of Marienville. A soninlaw, Ron Slater, of Marienville, also survives.
Additional survivors include the following grandchildren: Chris Slater and his wife, Tracey, of Marienville; Aaron Slater and his wife, Tiffany, stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma; Emily Slater of Marienville; Douglas Carter, and Mark Carter, of Florida and Dianna Stanley and her husband, Jason, of Sheffield; stepgrandchildren Michael Carter and Jason Carter, both of Florida; and Justin Foley and his wife, Erin, of Fort Drum, New York; and Erin Foley of Exton, Pa.
She will be sadly missed by seven greatgrandchil dren: Eric, Emma, Cody, Brussell, Coleman, Lillian and Haven.
The following brothers and sisters also survive: Carolyn Silvis of Marienville; Judy Amsler of Venus; Jill Motter of Marienville; Bob Hilyer of Marienville; Ken Hilyer of Hadley; and Jim Hilyer of Dempseytown.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Sue Slater; three sisters: Joan Antonucci, Phyllis Kahle and Pat Gadley; and one brother, Wayne "Buck" Hilyer.
Family and friends may call from 2 p.m. 4 p.m. on Friday, November 16 at the Ronald McDonald Funeral Home in Marienville. Funeral services will be held at the Marienville United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, with Rev. Daniel Richter, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in North Forest Cemetery.
