Julie Streich, owner of the Wellness Cafe, spoke at the October meeting of Warren Garden Club. She gave hints on eating habits for weight loss and better nutrition.
Julie shared her five steps for eating well. First, "Don't eat anything that great grandmother would not have eaten." Second "Always have items of more that three colors on your plate." Third, "Only purchase packaged goods that have five or less ingredients listed on the label." Fourth, "Eat food only," no MSG and other synthetics.
And always ask yourself "Is what I am going to eat good for my body?" We get our energy from the foods we eat.
President Rebecca Ryan presented Cindy Jarzab a "Club Laurel." Cindy capably served as chairperson of the Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania, District VIII Annual meeting held in Warren at the Conewango Club Sept. 10.
Garden Club members will decorate the Historical Society for the holiday season from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 14 and 15.
Members were urged to purchase their tickets for Triple Bloom immediately; only a few tickets are left. This all-day event will take place at Warren Holiday Inn from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8.
The gardening tip of the month was presented by Dottie Higgins. Dottie hollowed out a pumpkin to use as a vase for a fall floral arrangement. Always set a plastic container in the pumpkin for water, for water directly in the pumpkin will cause rotting. The pumpkin should be washed with soap and water before cutting to remove bacteria which will also cause decay.
