Dear editor:
The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
A time when the guns of World War I fell silent and a time set aside by a grateful nation to honor those men and women who have served and sacrificed in our nation's armed forces. It is a shame that over the years the very people, whose freedoms were paid for with the sacrifices of these men and women, forget about them on this one day that has been set aside for their recognition.
It is the best of every generation who step forward and put themselves into harm's way to insure that the freedoms enjoyed by our nation are preserved. From the first man to bear arms at the birth of our nation to the woman who is now serving her 3rd, 4th or more deployment in Afghanistan, our countries Veterans have given their all to protect our nation and our freedoms. Every one of them left something behind when they returned home. All left their youth, some left arms and legs, some left a part of their soul and to many left comrades who they will forever search for in their dreams.
November 11th this year falls on a Sunday. Remember our Veterans as you worship in a way and a place of your choice. Remember our Veterans at any of the services to be held through Warren County or wherever your travels may take you. Remember to take the time to tell a Veteran Thank You. Remember every day to care as much for them as they cared for you.
