November 6, 2012

Commuters planning their routes through downtown Warren on Tuesday will have some extra hurdles to account for.

According to City of Warren Director of Public Works Mike Holtz, more than one project will be restricting usage of some city roadways.

From approximately 8:30 a.m. until approximately 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, the city will be closing the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Liberty Street.

Plan accordingly
Two projects on Pennsylvania Avenue Tuesday will cause the closing of the Liberty Street intersection and lane closings further east near the Market Street intersection.

Repaving work will be done during the closing and the area scheduled for the work will extend east on Pennsylvania Avenue. Holtz said the project will extend approximately 60 feet further east on Pennsylvania Avenue to, "the east end of the current Northwest (Savings Bank) building."

Meanwhile, utility work will continue around the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Market Street only one block away.

Holtz said the work would continue to restrict traffic, causing closures of one traffic lane at a time.

"People will still be able to get through to go to local businesses," Holtz said.

Through traffic, Holtz noted, will have to go around the Liberty Street intersection, taking detours across avenues to the north.

Meanwhile, work at the Market Street intersection is likely to continue to produce delays.
