Pine Grove Beautification Committee ready for winter

November 6, 2012
The Times Observer

At a recent meeting of Pine Grove Beautification Committee, workbees were planned to prepare planting areas for winter. They include the welcome sign, memorial park, the gazebo and town hall. The weatherman predicted a killing frost, so member Evelyn Harris and Priscilla Powley admired the planting for the last time before the frost hit, and the plants were removed. It took a continued effort to keep the begonias watered during the hot, dry summer.

Many compliments were received about the flower bed. Charley Morrison, volunteer, kept the grass mowed at the triangle intersection.

It was decided to have the welcome sign refurbished in time for the upcoming spring. The commemorative brick project has been completed with the placing of three bricks at the gazebo walkway in memory of "Bevie" Swanson by the four "L's," in honor of our dad, William "Bill" Martin, Ralph, Darlene, Ralph Jr. and Jody Miller. A total of 193 bricks have been placed at the gazebo walkway.
