FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS: Warren, Eisenhower to play close to home

November 4, 2012
The Times Observer

Warren and Eisenhower will stay close to home when they open in the District 10 football playoffs on Friday.

Warren (8-2) was the third-place team (second Class AAA seed) out of Region 5, and will play Conneaut at 7 p.m. Friday at Corry High School. The Dragons beat Corry there in a non-region game less than a month ago.

Conneaut, a combined group after consolidation from the former Conneaut Valley, Conneaut Lake and Linesville football teams, is 6-4 overall playing out of the primarily Class A Region 1. Conneaut beat Eisenhower, 41-21, on Oct. 12. The only like opponent Conneaut played was last week in a 26-20 non-region win over Meadville. Warren defeated Meadville, 49-29, in late September. Meadville was the only Class AAA team Conneaut played on its schedule.

Region 2 champion Eisenhower is playing even closer to home in the District 10 Class A playoffs. The 8-2 Knights host Lakeview (6-4), also out of Region 1, at 7 p.m. Friday at Warren's War Memorial Field.

Eisenhower lost to both Mercer (33-7) and Conneaut (41-21), while Lakeview lost to Mercer (28-13) and beat Conneaut (28-13). Both teams defeated Union City, Cochranton and Iroquois.
