Halloween Parade
Students from Tidioute Community Charter School paraded down Main Street and stopped at various businesses and received treats from those businesses. Over 175 children participated. Students are seen here in front of Darlings Tidioute Pharmacy and the Health and Dental Center.
Tonight, Wednesday, October 31, is Trick or Treating for Tidioute children from 6 p. m. to 8 p.m.
Children are reminded to only stop at the homes where the porch lights are on.
Please have your parents check your candy before eating any of it.
Halloween treats
Ladies Auxiliary members of VFW Post 8803 will be handing out treats at the Tidioute Fire Hall from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
This will be in the social hall in the upstairs.
Senior Center menu
Thursday, Nov. 1 will be Bacon Cheeseburgers, dessert and beverages.
There will be ty-dying on Thursday at the Senior Center, please bring an item to dye.
Monday, Nov. 5 will be Hot dog/ Kielbasa sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, dessert and beverages.
Tuesday, Nov. 6 will be Roast beef or Meatball sandwiches, dessert and beverages.
Thursday, Nov. 8 will be soup and sandwiches, dessert and beverages.
Please call the senior center at 484-3020 to sign up for lunch. Need a ride, call the center and sign up to ride the TWAC bus.
Knights of Columbus
Council #9304 meeting is Thursday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. please not the time change.
This is a Holy Day of Obligation, All Saints.
If there is a Mass that evening, the meeting will be right after the Mass.
Movie night
Tidioute community movie night will be held on Saturday, Nov., 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Tidioute First United Methodist Church.
This is for anyone in the community who would like to come and enjoy a good movie.
Salvation Army
Bell Ringers
It has been brought to my attention that there is a misunderstanding about who rings the bells for the Salvation Army Red Kettle Days.
Just because someone rings the bells, it does not mean they are receiving benefits of any kind from our Tidioute Unit.
Bell ringers are needed to ring the bell at our kettle sites which are the Tidioute Trading Post and Polly's ShurSave Market. There are sign up sheets at these locations to choose your time choices.
If you have any questions concerning the bell ringing or other concerns please call Linda Scott, Tidioute Unit Chairperson at 484-7525. If no answer, leave a message and a phone number and I will return your call.
Holiday Food
Voucher Fund Drive
Request letters have been sent out to those who have made monetary donations in the past and some new businesses and residents have been added.
Even if you did not receive a request letter, your donations would be greatly appreciated.
There is only one Fund Drive that will serve both holidays.
Food vouches will be issued for use at Polly's ShurSave Market.
Those making donations are asked to make checks payable to Jane Downey, treasurer and mail them to Dennis Ledebur, CLP at First Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 144, Tidioute, PA 16351.
Applications for those in need are located at Polly's ShurSave Market, Tidioute Trading Post, Tidioute Community Charter School, Buccardo's Restaurant, and Tidioute Towers.
65 Years
and Counting
Come join the fun on Friday, Nov. 9 at 6 p.m. at the Tidioute Firehall.
Christmas is approaching, and every community in Warren County is beginning to prepare for this much anticipated holiday. Every town has its Christmas traditions, and in Tidioute it's the "Tying of the Greens". This year celebrates the town's 65th anniversary of this tradition. In 1946, members of the community got together, their purpose: to accent the Victorian beauty of Tidioute. Over the years, through the committees growing efforts, the "Tying of the Greens" has become a community tradition. They have posted pictures and copies of documents of this 65-year tradition on the Tidioute face book page- Hootie Hoot Tidioute.
While other towns have converted to the use of artificial greens, the borough of Tidioute still uses the traditional hand cut greens. The committee along with volunteer from the school and community will meet at the local firehall to tie the greens to the strings of lights. During the tying, there are snacks, laughs, and lots of Christmas music. The committee would like to invite anyone who can donate a few hours to join them for the fun. They need help cutting the greens and using zip ties to attach the greens to the lights. Children are welcome but if you are under the age of twelve, you must bring an adult with you. They should be done by 8 p.m.
The weekend following the tying, the town's Volunteer Fire Department members donate their time and equipment to hang the green throughout the downtown.
Tidioute Maintenance staff will be hanging the Christmas banners and wreaths once they get the lights changed. They are changing to LED lights for the wreaths this year. If you have a few hours to donate to changing light bulbs please contact Susan Salm at 484-3589. She will set up a time and date to get the wreaths ready depending on volunteer schedules.
On Saturday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. volunteers are needed to complete the decorations in town. They will be meeting at Picture Show Park. The areas to be decorated are located in the Picture Show Park, the VFW, the Medical Center, the Borough Office, the Library, the Firehall and the Tidioute Towers. They also add a little Christmas bling to the parking meters and planters. They need help changing light bulbs, hanging strings of lights, and garland and puffing bows.
The greens and decorations will remain up until the end of the Holiday season in January.
Turkey Party
Watson Grange members will be holding their Turkey Party on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. doors will open at 6 p.m.

Miranda Irons was elected for another two year term as Lady Assistant Steward at the PA State Grange session held in Butler. Kelly VanOrd was appointed to another two year term as Deaf and Community Service Director.
John Hollabaugh who served as a delegate along with Watson Grange Master Bob Hollabaugh stated he has the resolution booklet available for anyone wishing to read it. One of the resolutions is the State Grange working to get Grange Halls exempt from paying taxes. Members are urged to vote on Nov. 6.
Watson winners at state session were Matt Irons who received third place for his painted fishing lure and first place for Lego creation; Miranda Irons won third place for scenery photo and Jean Hollabaugh won second place for Truffles and second place for Start With a Cake Mix.
The annual Harvest Dinner has been changed to Saturday, Nov. 24 at 5 p.m. All members, families and guests are invited to attend. Meat, rolls and beverages will be furnished with those attending to bring a dish to pass.
Lecture, Kelly VanOrd presented the program using Halloween as her theme. It's Halloween read by Matt Irons, Halloween Quiz won by Matt, Halloween facts read by Kelly, Skeleton Parade read by Meg Froman and making words from Halloween also won by Irons.
The next meeting will be on Thursday, Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m. with Chips and Dip and relish trays for refreshments.
Family Turkey Party will be on Saturday, Nov. 10 with doors open at 6 p.m. and games at 7 p.m.
Warren Forest Pomona Grange will meet Saturday, Nov. 10 at 9 a.m. with Forest Grange serving lunch.
Fall Gun Raffle
Tidioute Area Volunteer fire department will be holding its Annual Fall Gun Raffle on Saturday, Nov. 24.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the games start at 7p.m.
There will be one gun drawn for every 65 tickets sold. Tickets are $10 each and you must have your ticket stub to receive any guns.
A 750 maximum number of people will be permitted in, children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

VFW Post 8803, Tidioute will be holding the Past Commanders Dinner on Monday, Nov. 12.
There is a sign up sheet at the bar for those who planning to attend, please sign up.
Halloween Dance
Costume Party
VFW Post 8803 held its annual Halloween Dance and Costume Party on Saturday, October 27.
Winners in the costume party were in First place: Crystal and Mike Heenan, Shelly Campisano, John Campisano, Ella Johnson, Lori and Tim McLaughlin. Second Place winners were Bonnie and Steve Mickelson. And Third Place winners were Linda Graves and Dawna Gray.
Clean Up at
Swedish Church
Members of the Military Exploration Class at Tidioute Community Charter School spent time at the Swedish Union Church on Swede Road, Tidioute raking leaves from the cemetery and around the church on Monday, Oct. 22.
Those who assisted their advisor Andrew Waugaman were students Lucas Divido, Chance Klos, Jordan Yeager, Matt Niles, Todd Breeden.
Adults who helped included Kenneth Nicholson, Mike Knight and Bill Brown.
A big thanks to the students and the school for a job well done.
Legion Post returns
The Elzie E. Lynch American Legion Post 0334, originally chartered in September 1919 has returned home.
The post was named in honor of Cpl Elzie E. Lynch, a Tidioute native, who was killed in action in France in 1918 during WW I.
In 1981, after the passing of George B. King, the last of the original charter members, the charter was cancelled. Some Tidioute veterans, with the help of former Stater Rep. Jim Lynch, a great-nephew of Elzie E. Lynch, were able to reinstate the original post. A temporary charter was issued in May of this year and the post will soon be applying for a permanent charter.

Operation
Christmas Child
Please plan to participate in Operation Christmas Child this year.
Fill a shoebox with small gifts and supplies for a needy child.
Suggestions include: school supplies like pens, pencils and sharpeners, paper, markers, crayons, small toys like cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, slinky, yo-yo's, jump ropes, kazoos, hygiene items like toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, wash cloths, combs, socks, hair clips, watches, jewelry, t-shirts, and sunglasses.
Age category is ages 2-4, 5-9 or 10-14. Determine if your shoebox is for a boy or girl and make the age category. Place a rubber band around each closed box and drop off at ST John Church or ST John Center.
It is also requested that you donate $7 for each box you fill. If filling more than one box you can make one combined donation.
Please have your boxes in to ST John Church by Sunday, Nov. 11.

Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan's Purse and demonstrates God's love to hurting children in a tangible way by partnering with churches worldwide to deliver gift-filled boxes and the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Veterans Day
program
VFW Post 8803 will be holding their Veterans Day Program on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m.
Everyone is invited to participate.
This will be in the parking lot at the post home weather permitting, in case of bad weather it will be held inside the post home.
