YVC participate in Earth Day project planting trees

The Youth Volunteer Corps is making a difference in the community through youth volunteers in grades K-12 in Warren County. Youth volunteer members give hundreds of hours of time annually to meet community needs. By being a member of YVC, volunteers get to experience a feeling of community through challenging, exciting, and worthwhile projects. Youth participants in our after-school programs meet bi-weekly with their advisors to identify issues they would like to address, plan projects tied to those issues, implement the project and then reflect on their experience. This program shows students how important volunteering really is and helps develop a lifetime commitment to service in their community.

The Across Ages Program is a four component program aimed at helping children grow as individuals. The center piece of the program is the involvement of adult volunteers as mentors. They become role models and friends, and someone to talk to and have fun with. In addition to spending time with their mentors, children in Across Ages are involved in community service activities and classroom instruction about decision making. The program also provides activities that allow participating families to have fun and get to know one another.

Our after-school clubs plan and do lots of different projects like raise money for other local non-profits, collect food for the Salvation Army, volunteer at the Santa House each Christmas, hold book drives, plant trees and clean up local parks, make dog toys for the Humane Society, and much more!
