The Times Observer Athletes of the Week have been getting better and better as the fall season has progressed. Take Warren boys soccer standout Matt Sandberg; two weeks ago, over two matches, Sandberg had eight goals and four assists in wins over Oil City and General McLane. Last week, Sandberg had three goals and two assists in a 7-1 win over Titusville and another two goals in a 5-0 win at Corry that clinched the Region 4 title. Youngsville's Kellie Lindstrom wasn't the top female runner on her team in early season races - finishing third or fourth on her own team in the first three races. On Saturday, she was the top female runner from the county in the Region 4 girls cross country meet at Union City Country Club. She finished sixth out of 69 total runners - including runners from Warren and Eisenhower - and was named a region first-team all-stars by finishing in the top seven of the 3.1-mile race in 21 minutes flat. Sandberg and Lindstrom are the Times Observer Athletes of the Week, sponsored by McDonald's.
