Go Blue and Gold

Our fall sports are coming to an end and we congratulate all those athletes in cross country, golf, boys and girls soccer on a wonderful season. The action still heats up this week with numerous matches and games to attend for our football and volleyball teams.

The Knights varsity football team will take on Youngsville Eagles at home tonight. Come out early to the Pasture of Pain and get a good seat for all the action. This is the last home game of the regular season and senior recognition night. The game begins at 7 p.m.

The Knights volleyball team will be traveling to Sheffield for its final match of the season on Monday, Oct. 29; the game starts at 7:30 p.m.

Donation to the Warren

Cancer Center

The Knights Football Boosters will be holding their weekly 50/50 drawing at the game against the Youngsville Eagles on Friday night. All the proceeds will be donated to assist with breast cancer research at the Warren Cancer Care Center. If you are out at the game stop by the booth and take part in this special 50/50 and make a donation to this worthy cause. Tickets are $5 for an arm length, 3 for $2, or 1 for $1.

Election Day

at the Library

It's the seventh annual Soup, Dessert, and Book Sale! Come to the Sugar Grove Free Library on Election Day, Tuesday Nov. 6. We will be serving from 11 a.m. until gone. There are both dine-in or carry-out available.

The types of soups will be a choice of cheesy potato or vegetable beef. Served with bread or crackers and your choice of desserts and donated by some of our best hometown bakers. There will also be a huge book sale with many books, DVDs, and CDs to browse through. Just in time to stock up on your winter reading. The cost is only a donation to the library with our thanks. If you're interested in making soup or a dessert, contact the library at 489-7872.

Food Pantry

The Second Harvest Mobile Food Pantry was held at the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church on Saturday, Oct. 20. A record crowd was on hand to receive donations of food from local businesses. More than 219 families were served with the donated items. Thank you to the 39 volunteers who came out to help distribute the food.

Creative Card Class

Sugar Grove Free Library held its Creative Card Class on Monday, Oct.15. A beautiful fall "thank you" card was created using die-cuts of leaves and an ink sponging technique. An ornament Christmas card was also made using the ornament die-cut and a folding technique.

November's monthly card class will be held on Monday, Nov. 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. A seasonal card celebrating harvest will be created, along with a fun Christmas snowman card. Cost for the class is $8.
