GUYS MILLS - Eisenhower's girls soccer team is closing the season with a flourish.
Taylor Talasky scored five goals and three other players added tallies in the team's second straight victory - an 8-1 triumph over Maplewood on Monday.
"The entire team played well today. We had some great passing combinations. It really is difficult to pick out any one player who stood out," said Ike girls soccer coach Kevin Weigel.
The Knights, now 5-8-2 on the season, finish the 2012 campaign with a home match against Cambridge Springs on Wednesday.
It took the Knights 16 minutes to get on the board during Monday's match. Taylor Talasky crossed the ball to teammate Sidney Wallin who buried the shot from 20 yards out. Just two minutes later, Wallin assisted on Paige Parmenter's first goal of the season.
Eisenhower added two more goals before intermission. First, Hayleigh Hishman assisted on Talasky's second goal and Talasky completed the hat trick in the final minute of the opening half, burying a shot in the right corner of the net.
The Knights were able to start substituting and moving players around in the second half of the match. 17 minutes into the second, Brooke Stanton executed a nicely placed throw in and Talasky scored for the fourth time in the match. Five minutes later, Mecala Chambers received the ball and dropped it back to Emily Warner who added her first goal of the year to make it 6-0.
Before the day was done, Bizz Baran - typically a defender - moved to forward and assisted on Talasky's fifth goal of the day and Baran added a goal of her own just one minute later.
Rachel Dinger played the entire game in goal and saved five shots during the victory.
