The Philomel Club of Warren held its first meeting of the season Oct. 3 at the Woman's Club. Rosalind Hupp, the newly-elected president, led the meeting. Guests and new members were introduced.
April Landin, soprano, accompanied by her husband, Matthew Landin, presented a mini-recital. April began her program with "Caro Nome" (Rigoletto), then sang "My Lord and Master" from "King and I" (April will perform the role of Tuptim in the Warren Players production at the end of October), "Mondnacht" by Robert Schumann, "Se tu, m'ami" by Pergolesi, "Christmas Lullaby" by Jason Robert Brown, "Chanson triste" by Henri Duparc, "Durch Zartlichkeit" (Entfuhrung aus dem Serail) by Mozart, ending with "Jesuis Titania" (Mignon). She received a standing ovation, richly deserved.
Host and hostesses were Robert Merenick, Mary Donaldson and Elizabeth Brown, who presided over a table decorated with fall foliage, mini pumpkins, and small figurines. The next meeting will be Oct. 17 when the Philomel Club will entertain the Mozart Club at the Sheldon House in Jamestown, N.Y.
