Joseph P. Kelly, 78, a resident at Tidioute Towers, Tidioute, Pa., died Monday morning, October 15th at the John & Orpha Blair Hospice House in Warren, Pa.
He was born in Tidioute, April 20, 1934, a son of the late James and Mary Snyder Kelly and lived most of his life in Tidioute. He was a graduate of Tidioute High, Class of 1952, and attended Gannon College. He was a member of the 1952 All State Basketball Team, and held the Warren County High Scoring title for twenty five years. He was inducted into the Warren County Sports Hall of Fame in 2001. He was a member of Saint Johns Roman Catholic Church, Tidioute, a life member of the Tidioute Area Volunteer Fire Department, the Pequignot/ Yeager VFW Post 8803 of Tidioute and Post 658, American Legion, Youngsville, Pa. and was an avid fisherman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Kelly in 2001.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Kirkwood Kelly, two daughters, Mrs. Ray ( Kathy ) Jones, Surprise, Az., Margaret Kelly and her companion Daniel Honhart, Warren, Pa. and a son Joseph M. Kelly, Harrisburg, Pa., a sister, Mrs. John ( Rosemary ) Kostkas, Tidioute. He is also survived by five grandchildren; Chasity Kelly, Warren, Pa., Christopher Jones, Surprise, Az., Michelle Jones, Scottsdale, Az., Mrs. Brett ( Rachel ) Vanguilder, Youngsville, Pa., Mrs. Michael ( Emily ) Wadlow, North Warren, Pa. and eight greatgrandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated Friday, October 19th at 11:00 O'clock in the morning in Saint Johns Roman Catholic Church, Tidioute, with Father Joseph Kalinowski, Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Swedish Union Cemetery, Triumph Twp. Tidioute with the burial detail of the Pequignot/Yeager VFW Post 8803 providing Military Honors.
The James M. Higgins Funeral Home of 3 Elm Street, Tidioute, is handling arrangements.
