Richard G. "Dick" Jones, 83, formerly of 19 Parker Street, passed away on Friday, October 12, 2012 at Snyder Memorial Home.
Dick was born March 14, 1929, in Warren, Pa., the son of the late Gail and Pearl Osgood Jones. He graduated from Warren High School with the class of 1949, and went on to serve in the US Army during the Korean War. He worked as a machinist assistant at the National Forge Company from which he retired. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Warren. Dick loved going to car races, waxing his car, planting flowers and raising the best tomatoes in the county.
He is survived by his brother, Robert Jones, and wife, Kathryn, Clarendon, Pa.; one niece, Catherine Peterson, and husband, John, Clarendon, Pa.; two nephews, Thomas Jones, and wife, Malinda, and Andrew G. Jones, both of Clarendon, Pa.; and many great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Friends may call at the Peterson Blick Funeral Home, Inc., 1003 Penn Ave., E., Warren, on Tuesday, October 16, from, 6 to 8 p.m., and for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held there on Wednesday, October 17 at 1:00 p.m., with the Rev. Ellie JohnsKelly, pastor, First Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Military honors will be presented by the Sheffield/ Clarendon VFW. Burial will be in Warren County Memorial Park.
