Howard E. Thompson, 91, of 18 Colonial Heights, passed away, Thursday, October 11th, at the Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born on January 14, 1921, in Ulysses, he was a son of the late Forrest and Myrtle (Monroe) Thompson.
On August 30, 1941 in Ulysses, he married Marjorie J. (Cook) Thompson who survives him.
Mr. Thompson was a graduate of Ulysses High School. On May 31, 1944, he enlisted in the United States Navy, served during WW II and was honorably discharged on February 22, 1946. He had been employed at Crossett Trucking Company as a truck driver and later as a dispatcher, retiring in 1986.
He was a member of Wellsville Lodge #230 F&AM of Wellsville and in 2006, he transfered his membership to Bradford Blue Lodge #749. He was a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Coudersport. Mr. Thompson was a former member and advisor for the McKean County 4H Club for many years.
Surviving is his wife of 71 years, Marge, a daughter, Sharon (Dave) Cullen, of Limestone, two sons, Ronald (Gail) Thompson of Bradford and Jack (Marian) Thompson, of Aliquippa, and a sister Beatrice L. Carey of Ponte Verda, Fla, seven grand children, and ten great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son, Donald Thompson, one grandson, Captain Bradley J. Thompson, and a brother Robert L. Thompson.
Family will be receiving friends on Sunday, October 14, 2012, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the HollenbeckCahill Funeral Homes, East Main Street, where funeral and committal services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 15, 2012. Burial will be in Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses. Members of Blue Lodge #749 will conduct a Masonic service at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
