Trick or Treat

hours set

Conewango Township has set its Trick or Treat hours for 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31.

Fire Police meeting

Warren County Fire Police will meet on Sunday, Oct. 14, at Grand Valley Fire Hall.

Breakfast will be at 9 a.m. with the meeting to follow.

Winterfest meeting

The Winterfest Executive Committee (WEC) has a public meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the Eagles' Club in Warren. This open Winterfest meeting is for interested volunteers, food vendors, and craft vendors. All participating organizations should send their representatives as well.

The WEC has been meeting for several months to begin preparations for the next Winterfest event, scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 18, 19 and 20, 2013. A major fund-raising drive is underway. Those who have questions can call Sharon at 726-1947.

Rouse Estate

receives donations

The Rouse Estate Memorial Fund, which supports many resident activities, received contributions during September in memory of the following: Cecelia McGuire Smith, Mary Jane Kemp, Mildred Graves, Robin Salapek, Cleo Loper and Arnold "Red" Chase.

The "Friends of the Rouse Estate", a volunteer auxiliary to the Rouse Estate, which raises funds to run the snack bar, sponsor family picnic and special projects, received contributions during September in memory/honor of the following: Mary Jane Kemp, Mildred Graves, Arnold "Red" Chase, Mary Scalice, Bill Reed, Virginia Langdon and Joyce Schwab.

To make a donation, send check payable to Rouse Memorial Fund or Friends of the Rouse Estate, 701 Rouse Ave., Youngsville, Pa. 16371.

Pine Grove sets

budget workshops

The Pine Grove Township Supervisors will hold budget workshops at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16 and 23 at the township building in Russell.

Flushing hydrants

in North Warren

The North Warren Municipal Authority will be flushing water hydrants during the week of Oct. 15.

Officials said there may be periods of low water pressure.

Trail of Treats

planned at mall

The eighth annual PNC Bank Trail of Treats for children is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28 at Warren Mall.

The event enables children to wear their Halloween costumes and receive treats from "treat stations" throughout the mall.

The cost is $1 per child; all proceeds will benefit Achievement Center programs and services in Warren and Forest counties.

SG shoot

The annual Sugar Grove American Legion Fall Luck Shoot will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. The event is open to the public.

Participants must be at least 12 years old to shoot.

Dances canceled

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. (AP) - A school district in central Pennsylvania has canceled a pair of homecoming dances after officials discovered a loaded gun at a high school.

The Patriot-News reports that the Middletown Area School District sent an email to parents about the incident Friday afternoon.

According to the email, the gun was confiscated earlier in the day at Middletown Area High School. It says an unspecified number of students were taken into custody.

The district posted a message on its website canceling the dances slated to be held hours later at the middle- and high schools on Friday night. It said the events would be rescheduled.

The district says additional law enforcement will be present for homecoming activities scheduled for Saturday.
