Warren's girls soccer team played the cream of the crop in Region 4 thus far, falling 9-0 to Mercyhurst Prep on Wednesday at War Memorial Field.
"They are right there with McDowell (in District 10)," said Warren coach Bob Domville. "Kind of the cream of the crop of Erie.
"We have a bunch of people out with injuries... but we didn't play smart this time," he said.

Warren is 6-9 overall and 3-3 in Region 4. Mercyhurst improves to 9-4 and 5-0. Mercyhurst Prep had lost three matches in a row in the Pittsburgh area before returning to region play, said Domville, whose Dragons trailed 7-0 with 12 minutes left in the first half before the rain picked up.
Freshman Kathryn Lobdell and senior Jaimie Eaton had good scoring opportunies, but they weren't plentiful for Warren, which hosts HarborCreek in non-region match on Saturday.
Warren's junior varsity team beat Mercyhurst Prep, 2-1, on a late goal off a rebound by Morgan Kupchella. Riana Hoffman scored off an assist by Summer Rosendahl for the first goal. Cheylee Smith was goalie the first half for Warren and Lindsey Onuffer the second half.
