Tax issue

October 11, 2012
The Times Observer

Dear editor,

I have gladly given funds on more than one occasion to support the Republican Party in order to win this election but now I realize we are going to lose and I don't believe in throwing good money after bad so I am not donating any further!!!

I believe that everything in our platform is just and equitable except! the unwillingness to tax the wealthy at a higher rate. The reason we have given is that they provide investment and that in turn provides jobs.

The problem is this is only partially true. Entertainers, i.e. movie stars, rock stars etc. highly paid sports figures, CEO's and yes heavy stock investors like Warren Buffet who contrary to popular belief, does not invest in creating new jobs but buys existing companies.

The bottom line is that tax money that could be extracted from these wealthy individuals goes towards, jewelry, rich foreign cars, drugs and a whole assortment of goods, most of which are imported and contribute nothing to our growth and the creation of jobs.

More importantly, the reason we going to lose this presidential election is because the perception we have created is that our party protects the rich and is not for the masses. This is the message the Democrats have been spreading as far back as I can remember and now we have confirmed the authenticity of that message. And - it's these masses and their respective votes that will put Obama and the socialists back in the White House for yet another 4 years.

I am personally upset and saddened by this fact and frustrated that my party is ignoring the above while marching steadfastly towards disastrous defeat.
