‘Suspicious’ devices found on south side

October 11, 2012
By BRIAN FERRY (bferry@timesobserver.com) , The Times Observer

Two "suspicious" devices raised concerns in Warren's South Side last weekend.

According to City of Warren Police, officers responded to a residence near the intersection of St. Clair Street and Main Avenue at 5:38 p.m. Sunday. They were shown two devices that were "suspicious in nature," according to Detective Tony Chimenti.

City police contacted the City of Erie Bomb Squad for assistance.

"As a precaution, a portion of Main Avenue and St. Clair were closed to traffic and police evacuated at least two residences until the devices were made safe," Chimenti said. "The bomb squad detonated the devices, the roadways were reopened, and residents returned to their homes."

Police are investigating the incident.
