Special Olympic Global Messengers
Warren County Special Olympians, from left, Mike Gray and Nicole Huya recently completed a Special Olympics Global Messenger training in Butler, Pa. Select Special Olympics athletes are trained to become effective public speakers to express the benefits of Special Olympics. In order to become a Global Messenger, one has to be 18 years or older, participate in at least one Special Olympic sport, be actively involved in Special Olympics for five years, and attend a two-day Global Messenger training with a speech coach. While there, Gray and Huya had to prepare and practice speeches that can be presented at Pennsylvania Special Olympics functions or as guest speakers at community events to spread the word about Special Olympics and for recruitment.

J.V. football
The Sheffield Wolverines Junior Varsity football team improved to 5-0 on the season with a 21-0 win over the Otto Eldred Terrors on Monday. Sheffield jumped out to an 8-0 lead early in the game after a three-yard touchdown run by Kenny Early.
The Wolverines second touchdown was by the way of air as Adam Higby hit Ricky Prosen on a 41-yard touchdown strike. Sheffield built its lead to 21-0 at halftime as Early scored on a 38-yard touchdown pass from Higby. Brandon Kipp led the Wolverines in rushing with nine carries for 75 yards.
Sheffield is back in action Monday at Smethport.

The Warren Wrestling Boosters will hold a meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at The Cornerstone.

Eisenhower High School graduate Josiah Blick has scored one goal and has one assist in 12 games played as a freshman midfielder for Division III Pitt-Bradford (2-10).

Warren Area High School graduate T.J. Latimer had four tackles (three solo) at linebacker and special teams in Division II Mercyhurst University's 19-10 football win over Lock Haven on Saturday in Erie.

Warren Area High School graduate Colter Johnson had seven punts for 300 yards (42.9 average) in Division I UMass's 52-14 loss at Western Michigan Saturday. Johnson's long was 54 yards and he had three punts inside the opponent's 20-yard line.

Eisenhower High School graduate Cody Crosby has punted 12 times for 395 yards (32.92 yards) for Division II Gannon University.
