Mr. Joseph Sabat, 80, passed into the next life at 10:00am, Saturday, October 6, 2012 in Golden LivingKinzua, following an extended illness.
He was born October 31, 1931 in Sheffield to the late Elias and Katherine Kolponol Sabat.
A lifelong area resident, Joe served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. Later, as an employee of PDM, he helped to construct the St. Louis Arch before retiring after 34 years of service.

He is survived by two sons, David Sabat and Darla, Warren, and Daniel Sabat and Kathy, Corry; two daughters, Darcy Sabat and Josh, Pittsburgh, and Darla Sabat and Mike, Warren; two brothers, Paul "Dooley" Sabat, Sheffield and Thomas Sabat, Tampa, FL; two sisters, Helen Moody, Tampa, and Jo Ann Aplin, Tampa; six grandchildren, Matt, Jordan, Alex, Lori, Mark, Kolby, and Braydn; a great granddaughter, Lana; motherin law Millie Russin and Norm, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his wife Millie Rae Woodly Sabat, whom he married February 28, 1960; four brothers, Jon, Steve, Peter, and Mike; and two sisters, Mary and Ann.
Funeral and committal services will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, October 11, 2012 in Grace United Methodist Church with Reverend Kevin Haley, pastor, and Reverend Alberta Smith, Asera Care officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Byzantine Cem etery, Sheffield. Friends may call from 7:00 9:00pm, Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at the BordenLloyd Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at Grace Church.
