CROSS COUNTRY: Lady Dragons 5th, Lady Eagles 7th at Harbor Creek Invite

HARBORCREEK - Warren's girls cross country team placed fifth overall and Youngsville's girls team placed five runners among the top 50 during the Dirty Dawg Invitational held Saturday at Harbor Creek High School.

Both of the schools boys' teams also competed with the Eagles claiming 14th and Dragons 15th overall.

The fight for county top finisher at the meet was a hotly contested girls race battle between Warren's Ellis Beardsley and Youngsville's Kellie Lindstrom. Beardsley took the honor with a 22nd-place finish in 21:23 and Lindstrom was 23rd and just three-tenths of a second behind.

The remainder of the Lady Dragons' pack all finished among the top 60. Sophomore Anna Falvo was 31st in 21:42 with teammate Amanda Castagnino right behind her with a 32nd-place run of 22:08. D.J. Hahn crossed the line 46th for Warren in 23:12 and Alyssa Cumberland claimed 60th with a 24:06.

Youngsville's girls team placed seventh in the final team standings led by Lindstrom. Other runners finishing among the top 50 for Youngsville were Abbie Swartzbaugh (34th, 22:21), Mallory Eastman (45th, 23:05), Piper Olsen (47th, 23:13) and Lydia Swartzbaugh (49th, 23:27).

Katelyn Maille was close behind those runners with a 52nd-place run of 23:40 and Samantha Tome finished 69th in 24:38.

The day wasn't quite as kind to the county boys runners with Youngsville's Aaron Hoover producing the top finish in 46th with a time of 19:05. Zach Ishman was the next Eagle across the finish line in 80th at 20:08 and Gregg Yost was 84th in 20:13.

Freshman Bobby Bower placed 88th in 20:17, Andy Lalwani was 89th in 20:20, Chester Ciukaj was 92nd in 20:34, Collin Lehnen was 98th in 21:14 and Nathen Carr was 107th in 21:58.

Warren's Seth Johnson led the Dragons by finishing 72nd in 19:57. Christian Olson was two spots back of Johnson in 20:03 and Zavinski was two spots back of Olson with a 20:05. Max Pierson was 87th in 20:15 followed by Mark Reiff (90th, 20:26) and Daniel Pierson (101st, 21:29).

Both teams are back in action Saturday at the Rocky Grove Invitational.
