ROBERT GANTZ

Robert Edward Gantz, 64, of Pittsfield, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the Warren General Hospital after a brief illness.

Bob was born July 8th, 1948 in Wilkinsburg Pa., a son of the late Andrew and Margaret Gantz (Staber). He was a graduate of the Youngsville High School Class of 1966.

He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War (United States Army) 19681969. He received multiple service medals. Bob was a machinist, and owned and operated his own tool and die business Gantz Tool & Die, for over 40 years. He also worked at Lorangers Manufacturing and Ellwood National Crankshaft, retiring from there in 2010. He was a member of the Corry American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Sugar Grove AmVets, and the Moose Club.

Bob's favorite pastimes were spending time with his friends, family, and grandchildren. He was an avid outdoorsman, which included hunting and fishing. Over the years, he liked going to the turkey shoots, and parties with his brothers and his best friend Mike Lane. Other pastimes included going to the "Stateline" races, attending auctions, and traveling, especially his annual trips to Las Vegas. At family reunions he took delight in winning and placing in the baking competitions, where he became known as "The Man" "The Myth" "The Legend"!! Bob was a hardworking and happy man. He was an accomplished machinist, family man, and friend, always willing to lend a hand. He will be sadly missed by all.

He is survived by his daughters, Tammy Rowles of Warren; Ronda (Patrick) Darling of Youngsville, and Gina Gantz of Warren. He is also survived by sisters Andrea Furrow of Arlington, VA; Karen (Ramsey) Llewellyn of Clarendon, and his brothers David (Laurie) Gantz of Spartansburg, John (Joyce) Gantz of Corry, Rudy (Lavona) Gantz of Tioga, and by grandchildren Zachary Rowles, and Gwendolyn and Olivia Darling, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received on Monday, October 8th at the Nelson Funeral and Cremation Services, 314 N. Main St. in Youngsville, from 47pm and one hour prior to the funeral service that will be held there on Tuesday, October 9th at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery with full military honors being provided by the Youngsville American Legion Honor Guard.
