Warren's girls soccer team fought hard, but the visiting Villa Maria Victors proved to be too much to handle, defeating the Dragons 2-0 Thursday at War Memorial Field. "Villa is a good team," said Dragons coach Bob Domville. "I thought we gave a fairly good effort."
The Victors got all the scoring they would need on a goal early in the first half and Warren was unable to answer as they drop to 4-8 overall and 2-2 in region 4.
Villa would strike again on a corner kick in the second half to put the Dragons away for good.
"We did a good job manufacturing scoring opportunities, we just need to be a little more patient in front of the net," said Domville.
Warren will look to rebound Saturday afternoon in a non-region match with Central Tech at War Memorial Field. Game time is scheduled for 1:30.

Seneca 3, Eisenhower 1
WATTSBURG - Eisenhower's girls soccer team had its two-game winning streak snapped on Thursday after a 3-1 loss at Seneca.
"We did a little bit better here today," said Eisenhower coach Kevin Weigel, whose Knights lost 3-0 at home to Seneca earlier this year. "They were more aggressive going to the ball. Our girls are still progressing still improving but you still see how far we need to go when you play a team like (Seneca)."
Trailing 3-0 late in the match, Taylor Talasky took the ball and carried it around the right side and put a nice ball over into the left corner unassisted.
"We had some opportunities (in the second half), and our defense held pretty well," said Weigel.
Rachel Dinger had about 10 saves for Eisenhower, which is 2-4-2 in Region 3. Seneca is 5-2 in the region.
"She was very active back there," said Weigel of Dinger at goalie. "Erica Littlefield at stopper again played a strong game. Brook (Stanton) and Bizz Baran played very well on the deep side of the defense. Emily Warner gave us some real god minutes on defense along with the starter Kourtney Knapp. Courtney Jewell, at midfield, especially in the second half was more aggressive."
