The second annual Fall Festival will be held at Chapman State Park Oct. 5 -6 with activities for all ages. The festival will kick off Friday night with "Geo-Caching at Night." Participants are asked to meet at the Amphitheater at 6:30 p.m. and to bring a flashlight. A limited supply of GPS units will be available for use during the program.
Activities will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at the beach area of the park. This year, coordinators are welcoming several new volunteers and organizations to the festival. The Warren County Conservation District will present "Macros of Chapman" from noon to 2 p.m. at the beach. Be prepared to get your feet wet as you search for life in the lake. The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission will be on hand to present "Cold Water Safety" from noon to 4 p.m. Stop by and learn how to stay safe in cold water. Gary Sharp has joined us to conduct a program on trapping with the presentation beginning at noon. Learn the modern techniques, how to get started, and why trapping is a useful method for population control from a lifetime trapper. The Bureau of Forestry will conduct a "Leaf Printing" program at Pavilion #4 from noon to 4 p.m. Learn about fall leaves and then make a leaf print to take home. Gary Lester will be conducting "Play with a Purpose" at the beach from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Join him to try a variety of games including "Group Skiing" and "A-Frame Stilts."
Another new addition this year are "The Jammers." They will be playing acoustic, traditional folk music in Pavilion #4 from 2 to 6 p.m. A "Chapman Information" table will be available from noon to 4 p.m. Stop by and chat with the campground hosts as they will be able to answer all kinds of questions. Winterfest, hiking and camping information will also be available.

Favorites from last year will also return. Jim and Bev Kinney will conduct their "Apple Cider" demonstration once again! This year they have added a new program "Ice Cream Making." Both programs will run from noon to 4 p.m. with samples available. Ranger Johnson is also back with a new demonstration "Mountain Pie Fixins." Enjoy samples as you watch the pies being made from noon to 4 p.m. Jen Moore, the park naturalist, has returned with "Gone Batty" from noon to 4 p.m. Join her to learn about bats of Pennsylvania and make a friend to take with you. The "Pumpkin Decorating Contest" was well enjoyed last year and has returned for another great festival. Pumpkins will be provided and decorating begins at 4:30 p.m. The judging of pumpkins will be at 5 p.m., and prizes will be awarded. These programs will be located at the beach concession stand.
