Blessing the animals
St. Francis Episcopal Church in Youngsville will celebrate St. Francis day with a blessing of the animals. It will be held outside on Sunday, Oct. 7, at 1 p.m. St. Francis of Assisi is the patron saint of animals. The public is invited with their animals, but dogs must be controlled on a leash.
Flu shots
There will be a flu shot clinic at Allegheny Community Center, 42 Clark St., Warren, from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Oct. 9. Medicare card is required, or self pay is $25.
Fall get-away

Heritage day Saturday
Rouse Heritage Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Rouse Estate in Youngsville. Music will include Kenton Kovich at 11 a.m., the Victory Belles at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., Celtic Creek at noon and Road Apple Ridge at 3 p.m. The day will feature a craft and vendor fair, Civil War reenactors and Civil War era fashion show, pony and carriage rides, a Hilltop Spinners demonstration, cash bingo, Granny's Ark petting zoo, costume photos, children's activity corner, a Rouse history display, a General Strong Vincent program by Tom Hanson and a play by Sonia Probst, "A Walk in His Boots." There will be no admission charged.
