Treatment with a view at the Cancer Center

October 2, 2012
The Times Observer

Warren General Hospital's Cancer Care Center has thousands of patient visits each year. Last fiscal year radiation oncology alone performed 3,728 patient treatments. Thanks to a generous donation from the Zonta Club of Warren, the view for patients in the radiation treatment room at the Cancer Center has been greatly improved. Because of the high levels of radiation, windows are not permitted in the treatment vault. Funded by the Zonta Club's kind gift, the previously plain white ceiling panels have been replaced with a beautiful autumn foliage depiction. Treatments can be very stressful and overwhelming for patients. The new ceiling panels provide a serene atmosphere, allowing the patients to focus on something calm and comforting during the challenging treatments.
