June Gleason Roys died September 19, 2012, in Washington, D. C. She was born in Warren, Pa., June 12, 1935, and was the oldest child of Robert and Inez Gleason, both deceased. June spent her childhood in Russell, Pa. and later moved to Florida and Maryland.

She graduated from Takoma Academy, Takoma Park Md., in 1953. In 1957, she earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education at Washington Missionary College, now Washington Adventist University. She finished a master's degree in education at Bowie State University, Bowie Md., in 1982 and later did advanced studies at John Hopkins University, Baltimore, Md.

For many years she taught elementary school in Md. and Va. She was a lifelong member of the Seventhday Adventist Church and served the church in all her professional positions. A talented musician and artist, she often spent summers in Russell where she had many relatives and friends.

Jane is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Gilbert Roys, their children, Robin McWilliams (Tim) and Craig Roys (Tammy), and four grandchildren, Andy and Carly McWilliams and Ronnie and Ramsey Roys. She is also survived by her brother Gary Gleason (Barbara), sisters Gay Mack (Roger) and Dell Bond (Gil) and nieces and nephews, Jessica and Sylvia Mack and Bobby and Ellen Trimarchi, and her grandniece, Lauren Blado.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, Oct. 7, at 4 p.m., at the Spencerville Seventhday Adventist Church, 16325 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, Md.
