ROCHESTER, N.Y. -Eisenhower's cross country runners experienced a competitive District 10-like atmosphere on Saturday at the McQuaid Invitational at Genesee Valley Park.
In fact, with over 7,000 runners in a number of races, it was much more than that.
The Ike boys team finished 15th out of 24 teams in the Boys Seeded Class A 3-Mile Run.
Anthony Amroski and Devin VanGuilder continue to lead the Knights, finishing 24th and 25th, respectively, out of 183 runners in the small-school race. Amroski crossed in 16:06 and VanGuilder three seconds later and both earned medals.
Ben Perkins was 95th in 17:40; Ben Morrison 130th in 18:18; Matt Jewell 142nd in 18:27; Derek Lasecki 163rd in 19:12; Jacob McCool 172nd in 19:48; Levi Stanko 178th in 20:34; Jason Morine 180th in 20:47, and; Jacob Hoffman 183rd in 21:54.
"It was a very fast race," said Ike coach Darlene Beach, adding North East's Ryan Smathers won the race in 14:51.
"It was a nice temperature and we have been up there before when it's kind of nasty," said Beach. "Some of them remembered what it was like, so I think being there last year, it did help a lot of them knowing the course. I think they had a lot of records set yesterday. I think most who had run there before bettered their times."
Julia Bauer earned a medal for the Lady Knights, finishing 23rd out of 217 in the Girls Unseeded Class A race, the smallest school level. She finished the three-mile race in 20:13. Teammate Kate Daugharthy was 80th in 22:15, Lacey Stanko 81st in 22:15, and Grace Thompson 109th in 23:11.
