Warren Football Giants
Paul Swanson (24) of the Cornerstone Cougars dives to tackle Avery Vazquez (8) of the Warren Tire Tigers on Sunday in the Warren County Youth Football League for third-through-sixth graders at War Memorial Field.

Olean, N.Y.'s Kyle Henzel and Chris Blocher captured the 6th annual Autumn Pro Scratch Classic at Conewango Valley Country Club on Saturday. The event features the best 2-man teams in the area, playing an alternate shot, best ball, and scramble format.

Henzel and Blocher shot a 4-under par 67 and beat host professional Patrick Damore and his partner, Bill Andrews, by two strokes.

In third place, CVCC's Joe Nelson and his partner Kevin Koerbel shot a 70 during windy and wet course conditions. The teams of Greg Gurdak and Matt Ferrie and Eric Gurdak and Mike Bancroft tied for fourth at 71 each.

The Eisenhower Football Boosters will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in room 309 at Eisenhower High School.

College news

Youngsville High School graduate and California University of Pennsylvania sophomore Abel Robinault was third on his Division II men's cross country team, posting a 26:55.89 time in the 8K blue race (188th out of 362 runners) Saturday at the Greater Louisville Classic in Louisville, Kent.

Warren Area High School graduate T.J. Latimer had five solo tackles and blocked a punt for a safety for Division II Mercyhurst College in a 36-10 win over Cheyney University on Saturday in Cheyney, Pa. In his debut at linebacker, the redshirt freshman had four tackles on one Cheyney drive.

Kinzua soccer

The Kinzua U-14 co-ed soccer team defeated Meadville, 5-0, on Sunday in North Warren. Lionel Eason had two goals, and Dominic Caprino, Seth Harrington and Andrew Beyer one each For Kinzua, and Tyler Gustafson had an assist. Kinzua is 3-1 with three shutouts. Dominick Giannini was the shutout goalie Sunday.
