The Boy Scouts of America began 101 years ago with a mission to help instill values in young men. We are, to this day, America's largest youth service organization, and still have the same mission. Scouting is a time-tested program that is helping to grow the next generation of America's leaders.
Boys are attracted to Scouting for the obvious reasons - camping, hiking, uniforms, pinewood derby races, earning badges and awards, making new friends, learning new things and having fun.
Parents want their sons to join Scouting because they know it is more than just a way for their son to kill time. It's a way for them to spend time together and to build the foundations of success.

Scouting teaches boys respect for the environment, respect for the beliefs of others, teamwork, patriotism and much more. We provide positive reinforcement and set expectations of cooperation, respect and good will.
Locally, the Chief Cornplanter Boy Scout Council is the oldest Scout Council in America, serving nearly 1,000 youth in Warren County. Our summer camp facility is Camp Olmsted, located in Scandia. We are one of the few small independent Scout Councils left in America and are proud of the fact that we've been able to maintain our independence so that the services we provide are for Scouts right here in Warren County. We have one of the highest membership densities in the country, one of the highest retention rates for members in the country, and in 2011 we were the highest rated Boy Scout Council in America.
Part of the funding we receive in order to remain an independent, viable and thriving Council comes from the support of our local United Fund. We appreciate our partnership with our local United Fund in the service of the youth of Warren County and strongly encourage everyone to financially support the United Fund campaign this year. Your gift will not only help local Scouting, but the other agencies that our local United Fund supports. We are all helping to improve the quality of life here in Warren County.
By helping to support our local United Fund campaign this year, you can truly help us help our Scouts smile.
