NORTH EAST - Warren's girls golf team finished seventh at Thursday's North East Invitational at Green Meadows Golf Course.
"It is never fun to come in so far from the top team," said Warren coach Tom Smoulder, whose Dragons were led by Megan Smoulder's 18-hole 95 and Morgan Smith's 96; both golfers have qualified for the District 10 Tournament on Oct. 9 in Cambridge Springs.
"However, my girls are improving and shooting solid scores," said Smoulder. "Meg's and Morgan's 90's today are always considered respectable at the high school level. The other three have come a long way. Their efforts today make me proud. We have a young team of five sophomores who have the drive and skills to make Lady Dragons golf something to look forward to in the up-and-coming years."
Mercyhurst Prep won the nine-team invitational with a team score of 350, one stroke ahead of Villa Maria.
