Potpourri

September 28, 2012
The Times Observer

Dear editor:

I was asked by a living legend Paul S.when I would drop a line to the readers speaks.

Well there has been a potpourri of stuff to write about lately so I thought I would mention a few.

First, after I read about the work being done at Beaty and an example of you do not put a wall up before you do the wiring I figured that is the abc's of construction. Now if I was a parent of a child there I would have thought there would have been the removal of asbestos before my kid started school.

Second, and schools are indirectly related, our Gov. Tom just lauded the natural gas industry for spurring economic growth in our state and stated that Pennsylvania is reaping a bounty. Same paper same day unemployment went up in the state, notice all those vehicles with Texas, Oklahoma, well all kinds of southern drilling state plates. Well they do pay to stay here and buy food which I am sure has helped the tax base.

That being said since Tom, Joe and Kathy sold out to these drilling companies by refusing an extraction fee for fear they would not come and drill and gave them an impact fee instead, well check out the windfall. Down the road a few years or so people in New York City, the whole east coast maybe will be warming their cockles by gas from our state, and we will be laying off more teachers because we get nothing for it. Please feel free to thank those responsible.

Third, who is that person who speaks on the condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak? What part of that I am not authorized to speak do they not understand?
