ERIE - Eisenhower played in its third overtime game in five games to start the 2012 season, a 1-1 tie at Iroquois on Monday.
"It was a good battle back and forth," said Ike coach Kevin Weigel, whose Lady Knights are 0-3-2 thus far with a game against Maplewood on Wednesday at Eisenhower High School. "Our defense played super again tonight."
It was Ike that scored first when Bizz Baran played a through ball from the left defense ahead to Taylor Talasky, who buried it into the net eight minutes in.
"They had more shots than we did," said Weigel. With 22 minutes left, Iroquois hit a shot to the right of the net a little high for Ike goalie Rachel Dinger, who had "about 20 saves," said Weigel.
"In the first O.T., they had the wind and controlled the tempo," he said. "Rachel had a couple big saves there, with the defense bending but not breaking."
Sydney Wallin had a chance to win in the second overtime, but the Iroquois goalie made an outstanding diving save.
"It was nice to see we were taking it to them and not just sitting back," said Weigel.

MP 6, Warren 1
ERIE - Warren dropped to 3-6 overall in a 6-1 Region 4 loss at Mercyhurst Prep on Monday.
"They jumped on us early, but they didn't score for six or seven (minutes)," said Warren coach Bob Domville. "They came out very well and we were holding our own, but we were definitely on the defensive end."
Domville said both goalkeepers (Lauren Frazier and Amanda Pinkerton) played well "with the pressure that they saw," said Domville. "Jaimie (Eaton) had a good game, and Danielle Smith had a good game."
Kaitlin Ishman scored Warren's lone goal in the second half.
"I was pleased with the girls have been battling the past few games," said Domville. "They battled clean to the end."
Warren lost 4-1 in the J.V. contest. Kathryn Lobdell scored the first goal of the contest. Katie Adams assisted.
