CLARION - Warren advanced to the playoff semifinals before bowing out of the Clarion Volleyball Tournament Saturday at Clarion Area High School.
The Dragons finished pool play with a 5-3 mark, defeating Hickory (25-19, 25-23) and Ridgway (25-19, 25-20) twice and Maplewood once (25-21). Maplewood also toppled Warren 19-25 and North Clarion beat the Dragons twice (14-25, 23-25).
In the opening round of the silver bracket playoffs, Warren bested Cambridge Springs, 25-20. It's run came to a close in the semifinals with a tight 25-23 loss to Franklin.
Valerie Latimer continued her strong play with 31 kills, five aces and five blocks. McKenzie Merenick added 17 digs. Paige Wilson finished with seven kills and fives aces, Rachel Lasecki had 14 kills, Teah Bines added 12 aces and 38 assists and Ashley Barker chipped in 30 assists.
Warren returns to the court Tuesday, hosting the same Franklin team that knocked it out of Saturday's playoffs.
