Patrons of Warren County public transportation are lining up in some new spots to catch their rides.
Transit Authority of Warren County Director John Aldrich recently told the authority's board of directors that two bus stops have been moved, and still more moves and additions are being negotiated.
The bus shelter at Conewango Towers on Oak Street has been moved a short distance to Lexington Avenue, Aldrich said. The bus shelter on Hospital Drive at Warren State Hospital in North Warren has been moved to a location near the Department of Human Services building.
Aldrich attributed the moves to a change in bus routes.
Aldrich informed the board he is trying to negotiate movement of the bus shelter near Warren General Hospital on Crescent Park to a Main Avenue location nearby.
The authority is also attempting to contact management at the Warren Mall about the possibility of locating a bench or benches at the mall entrance. Aldrich said he envisions either a single bench, to be moved inside and outside of the building seasonally, or two benches, one inside and the other outside. According to Aldrich, the authority has not yet been able to speak with mall management on the matter.
Aldrich said the last time TAWC requested permission to locate a bench at the site it was denied, but ownership of the property has changed hands since then.
Board members asked about the possibility of a shelter or bench at Wal-Mart in North Warren. Aldrich reported the store had denied a request to locate either at the site.
