Helen B. Potter passed away Friday, September 14, 2012 in VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach, Florida. She was born in Seven Mile, Ohio on June 3, 1921. She was a graduate of Miami University, Oxford, Ohio and taught music in Detroit Public Schools from 1943 1947.
She married James W. Potter on June 26, 1947 and they started married life in Warren, Pa. In addition to raising three children, Helen was active in music and volunteer work. She was the first woman to serve as Chairman of the Board of the Pennsylvania Affiliate of the American Heart Association.
Helen was a member of the The Community Church of Vero Beach, Florida, past president of its Women's Fellowship and she sang in the choir for more than thirty years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, and her sister, Mary Cope. She is survived by her sons, J. William Potter, Jr. of Honolulu, Hawaii and Thomas B. Potter (Sherry) of Tucson, Az.; and her daughter, Virginia Mead, (John) of Carbondale, Il. Also two grandsons and two granddaughters.
