Paws Open House and Pet Celebration will be held at the Humane Society, 212 Elm Street, from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23.
It's that time again ... when dogs and their famililes spend a day of fun and games at Paws Along the River Humane Society on Elm Street. Bring your dog or a friend's dog and get ready for the Costume Parade. Prizes will be awarded for the most original costume, funniest costume and owner/dog look alike. This is a great family day for your and your dog.
A Blessing of the Animals will highlight the afternoon with Pastor Dave Heckman from Akeley and Russell Churches officiating. The Akoostikly Challenged Band will make the day even more fun and festive. MLW Stabes (formerlly Double Rainbow Farm) will be on hand with pony rides. A Chinese auction, a dog costume contest, doggie games and door prizes will keep the fun going, If it is hot day, your dog can take a dip in a swimming pool. Bobbin for Dogs (hot dogs) is a big winner with all the canines attending.

A Kool Cat Photo Contest is free to enter and show off your fave feline. Photos will be accepted until 1 pm. The Funniest Pose, Most Beautiful Pose, Most Uniques Pose.. Remember to leave your kitty at home for safety reasons. Everyone present will be able to vote.
Sue Puhl will demonstrate her artistic ablilty with her fancy face painting for anyone interested. Warren County Memorial Park will donate two golf carts to transport visitors from their cars to the event. Moments in Time Photography Studio will be at the event with award winning pet photography photos.
Lunch will be available for a low price. And yes, save room for pie. It's free to attend ... rain or shine. All proceeds will benefit Paws Along the River Humane Society.
