Mrs. Alverta A. "Pete" Castor, 86, passed into the next life at 6:00am, Tuesday, September 18, 2012 in Kane Community Hospital following an extended illness. She was born October 12, 1925 in Accident, MD to the late Harry and Ida Holliday Wilhelm.
An area resident for the past 50 years, "Pete" retired from Sylvania after 30 years service. She was a workaholic and kept an immaculate home, and enjoyed going to Las Vegas, Atlantic City, and playing bingo.
She is survived by three daughters, Noreen Griffith and husband Dan, Sheffield, Anita Frederoski, Sheffield, and Loretta Davidson and husband Jack, Kane; seven grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Castor was preceded in death by her husband Norman "Babe" Castor; a son John Castor; a brother Paul Wilhelm; and a sister Buella Gall.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, September 22, 2012, in the Sheffield United Methodist Church with Reverend Martin Reynolds, pastor, Clarendon Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Sheffield Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2:004:00 and 6:008:00pm Friday, September 21, 2012 at the Sheffield Methodist Church.
