Sheffield earned its first volleyball victory since the 2010 season Monday, holding off county rival Youngsville in a five-set marathon match at Youngsville High School.

The Wolverines had to rally back from a two sets to one deficit after dropping the opening game 18-25 and game three, 21-25. Sheffield won game two 25-16 before battling to claim games four and five, 25-12, 17-15.

"Any win is a good win," said Wolverines coach Tracey Vile. "This shows that we are moving in the right direction as a team."

Sheffield's Hannah Vile paced Sheffield offensively with 28 assists and 13 service points. Teammate Brandy Rockwell added 10 kills in a winning effort.

For the Eagles, twin sisters Kennedy Cratty and Karissa Cratty had 19 digs each, Aubree Hendrickson led the team with 22 assists and nine service points and Abbey McLaughlin added 10 kills.

Youngsville didn't need much time to win the junior varsity match, 25-10, 25-3. Kailey Giese had 12 service points and 10 digs and Marissa Byler added nine assists for the Eagles.

Both teams will be back in action on Tuesday. Sheffield will look for its second win of the season as it hosts Elk County Catholic. Youngsville is also looking for its second win when it travels to Rocky Grove.
