Picture day at WAHS Wednesday
Warren Area High School is having its fall picture day on Wednesday, Sept. 19. Students should take their completed order forms and money with them Wednesday. Extra order forms are located in the main office at WAHS. Seniors will have pictures taken for student ID purposes.
Chicken dinner
Allegheny Community Center, 42 Clark St., Warren, will have a stuffed chicken breast dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25. Also included will be mashed potatoes with gravy, vegetable and dessert for $7 per person. Reservations are recommended; call 723-4180.
Cruise planned
Sheffield Senior Center has planned a wonderful southern Caribbean cruise out of New York harbor from Jan. 20 to Feb. 1, 2013. The cruise will depart New York with stops at ports of San Juan, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, St. Lucia, Barbados and Antigua for a cost of only $1,174. AOC on the move
On Thursday, Sept. 20, the Allegheny Outdoor Club (AOC), will ride bikes on the Ghost Town Trail near Johnstown. This will be an overnight event. Arrangements have been made for participants to stay at the Dillweed Bed & Breakfast. For more information call Earl Ross at (814) 706-1198.
Also on Thursday, Sept. 20, the AOC will ride bikes in the Busti, N.Y., area. Participants will meet at the Sugar Grove Post Office at 5:30 p.m. From there they will ride to Busti for ice cream then return to Sugar Grove. For more information call Pat Spicer at 757-8331 between 9 and 11 p.m.
On Sunday, Sept. 23, the AOC will hike five miles on gently rolling terrain on the Cornplanter State Forest near Tionesta. Participants will meet at state forest parking lot on the Neiltown Road at 2 p.m. From Tionesta, drive across the Rt. 36 Bridge then turn right and drive two miles north, then turn right on the Neiltown Road and continue one mile to the Cornplanter State Forest sign on the left. On Tuesday, Sept. 25, the AOC will hold its quarterly planning meeting at the home of Debra and John Young in Russell. They will schedule events for October, November,and December. This will be an eating meeting or, weather permitting, an outdoor picnic meeting. Participants should take a dish to share for the 6 p.m. meal with the meeting to follow.
